Andrea Stapff named Head Coach of Strathcona Nordic Ski Club

The Strathcona Nordic Ski Club board of directors is very pleased and excited to announce that Andrea Stapff will assume the position of Head Coach beginning this fall. Andrea is no stranger to club, athlete development and coaching with her many years of experience in rowing as both an athlete (representing Canada twice at the Olympic Winter Games in 1980 and 1984, and at the Commonwealth Games in 1986 where she won gold in women's pair), and as a coach.

Andrea has been working closely with Dave Battison over the past three years as an assistant volunteer coach, and, in the past year, as a part time assistant coach and club coordinator. Andrea is NCCP T2T trained and is working on her L2C certification in cross-country skiing. She has also been delivering NCCP workshops for CCBC as a Learning Facilitator.  In the wake of Dave Battison's untimely death on June 15, Andrea stepped in as interim head coach to ensure that summer training programs kept running.

Stepping into the Head Coach position is a natural step for Andrea and for the club, and means continuity in our programming and for the entire athlete development team consisting of athletes, volunteer club coaches, wax technicians, and parents.
