Canada’s National Coaching Partners Announce the First Annual National Coaches Week September 19 – 27, 2015

For Immediate Release

OTTAWA, ON (July 8, 2015) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and the provincial and territorial coaching representatives (PTCRs) are proud to present the inaugural National Coaches Week, September 19 – 27, 2015.

National Coaches Week is a week to celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. This week is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach.

“Coaches are a valuable contributor to communities across the country. From grassroots volunteers to high performance professionals, we value the role coaches play in developing sport across the country,” said Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the Coaching Association of Canada. “This National Coaches Week, take a moment to thank the coaches who push you to be your best as an athlete and as a person.”

Prior to this inaugural event, PTCRs and many of the CAC’s 67 National Sport Organization partners were hosting their own individual coaches’ weeks at various times throughout the year. To maximize these efforts, and to increase awareness and recognition of coaches across the country, the PTCRs decided to unify their efforts with the CAC and host a single national week for coaches across the country.

National Coaches Week wouldn’t be possible without the support of its national event partner, TeamSnap, an organization that stepped in to support this grassroots campaign from day one.

“TeamSnap believes in the power of community and team spirit, so we stand by the CAC’s dedication to encouraging and supporting more community coach volunteers,” said Ken McDonald, TeamSnap’s Chief Growth Officer. “We’re excited to join the CAC in this mission and are looking forward to working with Canada’s coaches more fully.”

TeamSnap is an online and mobile app for organizing and communicating every aspect of team life, alleviating the logistical problems of wrangling schedules, practices, equipment and volunteers, and providing up-to-the-second info on where everyone needs to be and what they need to bring. Eight million coaches, parents, team managers and players use TeamSnap's web and mobile apps to stay up to date on games, practices and all the details through email, text and instant alerts.

The PTCRs, the CAC, and TeamSnap invite Canadians from coast to coast to coast to join us in celebrating the first annual National Coaches Week, from September 19 – 27, 2015.
