CANADIAN MASTERS' CROSS-COUNTRY SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS, 2015

On your days off - a variety of choices for a great ski:

Stake Lake Ski Trails are open for free to all Masters skiers entered in the races, with your accreditation. All other skiers must pay the day fee of $13 for Seniors and $14 for other Adults. Six-day passes are also available. The Trails Map can be found under the “Trails” link on the main page of the website. Then scroll through the competition maps to the “Skiing Trails Map” Link.

Only a few of our trails are being used for the Masters’ events - there are many more to choose from for a gentle ski on your days off. Here are some suggestions, starting at the Parking Lot and Day Lodge area:

The Outer Loop: Ponderosa – Sidewinder – Cowpoke is 17 kms of gentle hills with great views from the top of Sidewinder.

To the Lookout: Ponderosa – Sitting Bull – Rustler – Ambush – Lookout is 6 kms with the reward of fabulous views to east and south;

There are a couple of choices to return from the Lookout:

a): Lookout – Ricochet – Sidewinder – Cowpoke is another 9.7 km, with some fast downhills;
b): Lookout – Ambush – Rustler - Sidewinder – Cowpoke is another 8.2 km with gentler hills.

The Racing Trails: Cartwheel (Stadium) – Cartwheel –Drifter - Lasso - Tumbleweed – Showdown- Quick Draw – Snakebite - Hold Up – Cartwheel – Stadium is 4.0 km of exciting skiing on tricky trails!

Sun Peaks Resort:

Our local downhill ski resort is a 45 minute drive north from Kamloops on Highway 5, turning east off the Highway at Heffley Creek. The Resort has a Cross Country Ski Trail network that you may want to try. The Resort is offering 40 free Nordic day passes for Masters’ Skiers on each of our two days “off” from races: Tuesday, February 10th. and Friday, February 13th. There’s also a vibrant ski village with great coffee, lots of restaurants and souvenir shops.

Make sure to pick up your pass at Registration on Sunday, February 8th.
