Teck Regional Cup Highlights: Coast Cup #4 attracts 220 registrants; Larch Hills wins Okanagan pennant for 6th consecutive year

Following Teck Okanagan Cup #2 in Kamloops last weekend, the Larch Hills Nordic Society (Salmon Arm) led the Teck Okanagan Cup Series after accumulating 406 points in just two races. Sovereign Lake Nordic Club of Vernon (144 points) narrowly edged out the Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club (134) for second place.  This is the 6th consecutive year that Larch Hills has won the Okanagan title.

On other fronts:

  • The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club of Prince George leads the Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers following the second Teck Northern Cup Series race of the season, which was held in Burns Lake this past weekend.  The two clubs have earned a total of 269 and 249 points respectively.  The showdown will come at the final race in Smithers on Sunday, February 11th - http://www.crosscountrybc.ca/race-notice-teck-northern-cup-2-rescheduledchris-dahlie-open
  • The Fernie Nordic Ski Club (Fernie, BC) continues to lead the other cross country ski clubs in the region following the fifth event in the series.  Fernie (541 points) has a comfortable lead over the Kimberley Nordic Ski Club (364), Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club (295) and Nelson Nordic Ski Club (278), but there is still one race to go and any of these clubs could end up the overall champion.   • At the coast the Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (Vancouver) is dominating the chase for the Teck Coast Cup Series trophy with 1130 points after the first four races.  Challengers for second place are the Strathcona Nordic Ski Club (Courtenay), Sea to Sky Nordic Club (Squamish) and Whistler Nordic Ski Club with 332, 286 and 248 points respectively.  The next Teck Coast Cup races are scheduled for February 10th-11th at Mt Washington on Vancouver Island - http://www.crosscountrybc.ca/teck-coast-cup-5-6vancouver-island-loppet-race-notice-mt-washington
