Teck Regional Cup Highlights: Coast Cup #3 attracts 258 racers; Larch Hills wins Okanagan pennant

The Larch Hills Nordic Society (Salmon Arm) led the Teck Okanagan Cup Series once again by accumulating 579 points in just two races. The Telemark Nordic Club (Kelowna) was the runner up with 337 points in what ended up being a much closer contest than last year.

On other fronts:

  • The Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers has a significant lead in the Teck Northern Cup Series following the second event in the five-race series.  Teck Northern Cup #3 / #4 will be held in Prince George on February 20-21 in conjunction with the  2016 Western Canadian Championships.
  • In the Kootenay region the Kimberley Nordic Ski Club (397) has a narrow lead over the Nelson Nordic Ski Club (371), Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club – Rossland (317) and Fernie Nordic Society (262) following Teck Kootenay Cup #4, which was held in Invermere last weekend.  The next Teck Kootenay Cup is scheduled for February 13th in Fernie.
  • At the coast the Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (Vancouver) is dominating the Teck Coast Cup Series with 728 points after the first three races.  Runners up are the Sea to Sky Nordic Club (Squamish) and Strathcona Nordic Ski Club (Courtenay) with 220 and 200 points respectively.  The next two Teck Coast Cup races are scheduled for February 13-14th at Mt Washington.
  • On the weekend of January 30-31 there was five Teck Regional Cup races with a combined total of more than 1000 entries. The event with the largest registration was Coast Cup #3 with 258 entries.
