FERNIE WAX CLINIC

Who is it For: anyone interested in learning how to wax cross country skis (no prerequisites required)     

Presenter:  Dave Battison – NCCP Learning Facilitator / Evaluator & Head Coach, Strathcona Nordic Ski Club
Clinic Schedule:  January 19, 2014     (2:15pm to 6:15pm)
Location: Fernie, BC

WAX CLINIC: This Ski Preparation Clinic will cover the following:

  • Shop set up – what goes in the tool box, maintenance of tools; and
  • Ski selection – camber testing; and
  • Base condition – grinding; and
  • Structuring – classic and skate; and
  • Wax application – glide, high flournated top coast (cold application); and
  • Wax application – grip, hard wax and klister making hairy skis – working with zero skis; and
  • Questions.

Clinic Fee: $40.00 per person Limited to 14 participants (cheque’s payable to Fernie Nordic Society)

Equipment to Bring: Participants need to bring wax form and bench, skis to work on, iron, scraper, brushes, wax to use grip and glide. Participants can work in pairs or groups (sharing equipment) to help with the space and time. The majority of the time will be demonstration/observation with some hands-on participation/involvement.
