BC Ski Team in Sweden - 2026 B-Tour
Tuesday March 24
This morning, we skied around the Dundret Mountain which was a flat 30km loop. It was a beautiful day, and colder conditions made for perfect crust skiing on the side of the trail. After our ski, we headed to the school for a delicious catered lunch made by the nice chef Pia. After lunch, we walked over to the Mange Takk cafe where we enjoyed some fika with the Swedes. We had cinnamon buns with a Swedish drink. After fika, we headed back to our cabins to get ready for a strength session at the Gällivare gymnastics centre. After a few flips into the foam pit and muscle ups on the bars, we got started on a short core circuit and some strength. At the end of the session, we had some friendly sprints on the track. We ended the day with some tacos made by the athletes for dinner, and watched another horror movie with some of the Swedes.

Wednesday March 25th
We were greeted by gray skies as we prepared ourselves for today’s ski, a near 35km journey that would take us 2.5 hours to complete. Following a rough snowmobile track, we were led through vast arctic forests and across frozen lakes. Due to the narrow and rutted track most of the skiing was double poling and we were all sore and tired by the end. Our destination was a small pond where we would try ice fishing. After lunch around a campfire, we set out with the goal of catching every fish in the pond. The ice was several feet thick making it difficult to drill holes by hand, especially after our long ski. We patiently waited, fighting off the cold, for bites, but ended up catching nothing. Despite a disappointing number of fish, it was still an interesting experience and a memorable day.
