Last night the SportsBC/Teck Community Sports Hero awards ceremony was held at the Civic Centre and we are very proud to have not only one, but two, Community Sport Heroes from Otway.
Jim Burbee was awarded the Community Sports Hero award for his extensive role and volunteer work with our Club, as well as with Pacific Sports North, Cross Country BC and Cross Country Canada. Jim has also spearheaded much of the upgrades to the facilities required for the 2015 Canada Winter Games and is currently the Director of Competitions at Otway.
Calvin Dyck was awarded the Community Sports Hero award for his inspiring and dedicated role in coaching the Special Olympic athletes in cross country skiing. We are so proud as a community to be represented by such an inspiring group of athletes and Calvin has played a key role in helping them to achieve remarkable success.
We have such a wonderful and dedicated community of volunteers at Otway, and it is fantastic to see folks like Jim and Calvin recognized for their remarkable contributions.
Thank you Jim and Calvin for all that you do and congratulations on your Community Sports Hero Awards.
