Head of Grooming Operations
Golden Nordic Ski Club (GNSC) seeks a dependable and motivated individual to take on the responsibility of Head of Grooming Operations. This is a full-time seasonal position from October to May (annually).
The ideal candidate will have:
- familiarity with cross-country skiing;
- experience operating a Bison snow cat for Nordic grooming;
- competence performing day-to-day maintenance such as engine and hydraulic fluid service, lubrication of bearings, and installing/removing and lubricating tracks on a side-by-side;
- experience operating and maintaining a tracked side-by-side and snowmobile; and
- skills in leadership to hire, train and supervise a small grooming team and to work with other leaders in the Golden Nordic Ski Club.
The Golden Nordic Ski Club fleet of grooming equipment consists of:
- a Bison X snowcat,
- a Bombardier BR275 snowcat,
- two tracked Polaris Ranger side-by-sides, and
- two sleds used as run-abouts.
The Golden Nordic Ski Club operates 33 km of cross-country ski trails. We take pride in maintaining first class trail conditions through careful and regular grooming. Grooming is normally conducted between 4 and 11 AM, seven days per week, subject to snow conditions.
Responsibilities of the Head of Grooming Operations include:
- conducting grooming 3-4 days per week;
- maintenance of all grooming equipment; and
- management, hiring, training and supervising of grooming staff for the remaining days per week.
- In April, May and October: ensuring that the fleet of grooming equipment is in tip-top condition for the upcoming season using a combination of own labour and contractors.
Compensation $40/hr without benefits. Benefits available at employee expense.
