STRATHCONA NORDICS HOST FINAL TECK REGIONAL CUP FOR THE SEASON

Teck Coast Cup #4

Unfortunately, high winds and heavy snow prevented the race organizers from running the Teck Coast Cup #4 sprint races on Saturday, March 8. Race registrants were notified of the cancellation, and those racers who were registered only for this Saturday race were invited to have their names placed on the Teck Coast Cup #5 start list on Sunday.

What a difference a day makes! On Sunday, March 9, race officials, support crews, and racers enjoyed blue skies, sunshine, and 3.5 C temperatures. 135 racers between the ages of 4 and 60 participated in the mass start free technique race, and three coastal clubs were represented: Hollyburn, Strathcona Nordics, and Whistler. The distances ranged between 1KM for the youngest Atom category and 7.5KM for Junior boys and men’s categories.

The awards took place following the races in the sunshine in the nordic stadium.

The Strathcona Nordics put in a great showing at their home race, but in the end Hollyburn took home the pennant for the aggregate award for the Teck Coast Cup series.
