2015 CANADA WINTER GAMES

Site:                  Prince George, BC
Dates:               February 23-March 1, 2015
Size of Team:   10 Able-Bodied athletes (5 male and 5 female)
                        4 Para-Nordic athletes (2 male and 2 female)

Selection Criteria (Able-Bodied)

1.  Athletes must be 23 years of age and under (born in 1992 or later).

2.  The Athlete Development Committee will select up to 80% of the Canada Games Team based on criteria #3 and #4. 

3.  The following Trial races will be used for all eligible athletes with the exception of those that meet the qualification requirements in criteria #4:            

     Men - Sovereign Lake Open (Vernon). Dec. 6, 2014 (FT distance)
     Men - NorAm (Callaghan Valley). Dec. 20, 2014 (CT sprint)
     Women - NorAm (Callaghan Valley). Dec. 20, 2014 (CT sprint)
     Women - NorAm (Callaghan Valley). Dec. 21, 2014 (FT distance)      

     3.1   Athletes will be selected using the following:

           3.1.1   The top eligible athlete in each Trial race will receive 100 points. Athletes will then be ranked based on their percentage of time off the leader.

           3.1.2   For sprint races the finish times from both the Qualification Round and the Heats will be used.

4.  Alternate criteria for eligible athletes who are unable attend the Sovereign Lake Open on December 6, 2014 due to a conflicting selection race in Bozeman, Montana:

     4.1  The athlete must achieve a minimum average of 90 CPL points in their best two of the three following races:

           Men - Super Tour (Bozeman, USA). Dec. 7, 2014 (15 km CT)
           Men - NorAm (Rossland). Dec. 14, 2014 (10 km CT)
           Men - NorAm (Callaghan Valley). Dec. 20, 2014 (30 km FT)

5.  The remaining 20% will be filled in at the discretion of the Athlete Development Committee, and may include “force majeure”, CPL points, past performance, results from early season races, etc.

6.  The selection committee reserves the right to decide the balance between sprint and distance athletes in the interest of fielding the best overall team. This consideration includes starting the strongest possible team for sprint, distance and relay events. 

7.  All athletes must be in financial good standing with CCBC.

Selection Criteria (Para-Nordic)

1.  Athletes must be 35 years of age and under (born in 1980 or later).

2.  The Athlete Development Committee will select the Canada Games Team based on the following Trials races.

     Men/Women - NorAm (Callaghan Valley) Dec. 20, 2014 (FT sprint)
     Men/Women - NorAm (Callaghan Valley) Dec. 21, 2014 (CT distance)

3.  Athletes will be ranked based on their finish placing and percentage of time off the leader.

4.  Force majeure may be considered in special circumstances.

5.  All athletes must be in financial good standing with CCBC.
