Provincial Team Programs

BC TALENT SQUAD (BCTS)

The BC Talent Squad Program is a talent identification program that has been established for the purpose of recruiting and supporting promising athletes from club programs throughout BC.  The program is designed for BC athletes in the Training to Train (T2T) stage of the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, and is a "feeder" program to the BC Development Squad.

The objectives of this program are:

  • To recruit talented individuals based on considerations in addition to results, such as commitment, and opportunity.
  • To motivate and train young elite athletes entering the high performance system through the provision of educational and technique development opportunities in a peer group, inter-club training environment.
  • To expose developing athletes to the BC Development Squad BC Ski Team programs.

BC DEVELOPMENT SQUAD (BCDS) 

The BC Development Squad is designed for BC athletes in the Training to Train (T2T-2) and Learning to Compete (L2C) stages of the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, and is a "feeder" program to the BC Ski Team program.

The objectives of this program are:

  • To prepare elite athletes, through the provision of appropriate learning opportunities, for the BC Ski Team.
  • To promote long term involvement with competitive skiing.
  • To promote an attitude of fair play.

BC SKI TEAM (BCST)

The BC Ski Team is directed at BC athletes in the Learning to Compete (L2C) and Training to Compete (T2C) stages of the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, and is a "feeder" program to National Ski Team programs.  This includes National Ski Team and National Junior Team athletes.  The program is designed for athletes who have demonstrated the skill, ability and interest in pursuing a career at the International level. 

The objectives of this program are:

  • To prepare elite athletes, through the provision of appropriate learning opportunities, for the National Ski Team.
  • To develop independent athletes that can make knowledgeable and responsible training decisions for themselves.
  • To promote a long term involvement with competitive skiing.
  • To promote an attitude of fair play.
