Announcement re Western Canada Cup/Teck Kootenay Cup, Rossland, Dec 11-12, 2021

Due to very low snow at our main trail system the organizing committee, in conjunction with Nordiq Canada and the Jury, has decided to move this event to our upper trail system (biathlon).  This is about 10km north of Rossland on Hwy 3B. Elevation at that site is around 1430m.  Dates will remain the same.

Due to limitations at that site, a number of changes are required:

December 11 will be Individual Start Classic for all categories.  Racers already registered for the sprint will be changed to the distance race unless they contact the race secretary to specifically request otherwise.

December 12 will be Interval Start Free (not Mass Start).  Distances will remain the same.

There is minimal infrastructure at that site.  Power and shelter for waxing will not be able to be provided at the race site.  There will be heated tents for athlete warming and shelter as well as for race infrastructure.  There is a large open area for teams to set up in. It will be accessible by vehicle on an in and out basis.  There will be parking for waxing trailers if pre-arranged.

Parking is limited at the site, please try to carpool and shuttle as much as possible. We are attempting to arrange a shuttle from Rossland to run on a regular rotation.

There has been a change to the Jury, Troy Hudson will be acting as Technical Delegate, Jeanie MacDonald as Assistant Technical Delegate and Ian Sibbald as Chief of Competition.  Adele Pratt is Event Chair.

Further details including maps and race schedule will be posted on the Black Jack website as they become available.
