BC Ski Team at 2022 US Super Tour
Monday January 31, Lake Placid, New York

It was a dark and stormy night, Eamon was raving about David’s tea, while the competition slept...

After a long day of travel, the team assembled at the world’s most luxurious Comfort Inn and ate delicious takeout meals while Finn and Eamon sent Uber Eats to the wrong side of Montreal. The following morning, we drove across the border in two minivans and the presidents old Tahoe, and later arrived at the Olympic town of Lake Placid. After a chaotic grocery shopping experience, we headed out for a training ski at Mt. Van Hoevenberg before settling down at our semi-haunted Air BnB.

On Friday we scoped out the 1.5km classic sprint course for what would be an exciting first race. The whole team performed very well on the hilly and tactical course and achieved some great results. We were stoked by the large scale of the event and had tons of fun not only racing but cheering as well. That afternoon we rested up, socialized as a team and made some great dinners.

Sunday was another chilly day of racing with some of the biggest mass starts we have ever participated in.  It started with the 10km Women's Free Technique race, followed by the Men's 10km and the U16 5km.  Once again, everyone had a great time racing and produced awesome results. Life at the athlete's house that afternoon consisted of lots of naps and friendship bracelet making.

We would like to thank our coaches for our speedy skis at one of the first high level non-fluoro races we have attended, and for the motivational cheering. A big thanks to Cross Country BC as well for making this trip possible.

Looking forward to another fantastic weekend of racing in Craftsbury, Vermont!
