2021-22 TECK REGIONAL CUP SERIES UPDATE

Down In the Kootenays......

The Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club of Rossland (654 points) is the 2021-22 Teck Kootenay Cup Series club aggregate champion following the final races which were held in Nelson on the weekend.  Black Jack beat out the Nelson Nordic Ski Club, which had accumulated 593 points, and the Kimberley Nordic Club (577 points) to win the Kootenay title.  The Fernie Nordic Ski Club ended up with 423 points, followed by the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club of Invermere, the Valhalla Hills Nordic Ski Club of New Denver and the Golden Nordic Ski Club.  Even the new Phoenix Cross Country Ski Society from Grand Fork earned themselves 7 points. All clubs put in a solid effort for the most successful Teck Kootenay Cup Series to date.

The largest Teck Regional Cup event of the season was Teck Kootenay Cup #4 & #5 (Kimberley) with 236 individual athletes registered. 

New this year - in December the Golden Nordic Ski Club hosted its first-ever Teck Kootenay Cup.

Up North......

The Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers (611 points) increased it’s lead over the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club of Prince George (191 points) at Teck Northern Cup #5, which was held in Smithers this past weekend.  The Nechako Nordics of Vanderhoof are close behind with 166 points, followed by the 100 Mile Nordics (92 points) and Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Club of Houston (82 points).  Also earning points were the Williams Lake Cross Country Ski Club, Omenica Ski Club (Burns Lake),  Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club (Kitimat/Terrace), Cariboo Ski Touring Club (Quesnel) and Mackenzie Nordique Ski Club.

The Northern Region has the largest number of clubs in the program with ten participating.

New this year – the 100 Mile Nordics hosted its first race in many years.  This club has been host to many BC Cup races and two National Junior Championships in the past,

The sixth and final race in the 2021-22 Teck Northern Cup Series will be held in Vanderhoof on February 19th.  Click here for more information....

On the Coast.....

At the coast the Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (Vancouver) has a solid lead in the chase for the Teck Coast Cup Series trophy with 221 points. Second place is the Sea to Sky Nordic Club (Squamish) with 78 points. Hollyburn has dominated in the chase for the club trophy since the program began, but they will have a challenge to remain on top this year with the final two races in the three-race series being held at Mt Washington on Vancouver Island.

In the Okanagan.......

No news since the last update. 

In the Okanagan the Larch Hills Nordic Society of Salmon Arm (208 points) grabbed the lead from the Sovereign Nordic Club of Vernon (171 points) during the first Teck Okanagan Cup race of the season. The Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club (133 points) follows in third place with a solid lead over the Telemark Nordic Club of Kelowna, which has 88 points.  The next Teck Okanagan Cup will be held in Penticton in March.
