Cross Country BC continues to follow the national (Nordiq Canada) and global ski community (FIS) in the strategy to eliminate fluoro wax.

Fluoro Wax Rule for Nordiq Canada Sanctioned Races 2023-24

Fluoro wax is restricted for all Nordiq Canada sanctioned events (Tier 1 and Tier 2). This includes:

  • Canada Cups
  • Nordiq Cups (COC) / Nordiq Canada Selection Trials
  • Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals
  • Teck BC Cup Series (these events are both nationally and divisionally sanctioned)

Fluoro wax is also restricted for all divisionally sanctioned events (Tier 3). This includes:

  • BC Winter Games
  • Teck BC Track Attack Championships
  • Teck Regional Cups
  • Other races listed on the CCBC Competition Schedule
  • Loppets

Not Permitted:

  • Fluoro kick wax
  • High fluoro (HF), medium fluoro (MF), or low fluoro (LF) glide wax, including HF, MF, or LF powders, pucks, blocks and liquids
  • Fluoro cold weather powder additives and hardeners
  • Fluoro grip powders

Background:

  • The international ski community including the International Ski Federation (FIS), national federations and wax companies, are working together to find alternative waxing solutions.

Removing Fluoro Wax:

To ensure skis and equipment are properly cleaned of fluorinated products or residue, please follow the FIS recommendations.
