Former BC Ski Team Athlete Wins Gold in Rowing at Tokyo

Avalon Westeneys of Campbell River is a member of the Women’s 8 rowing team that won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this past week.
Avalon, who competed for the Strathcona Nordic Ski Club when she was a competitive cross country skier, was a bronze medalist at the Junior National Championships in 2013. She was also a member of the BC Talent Squad for three years and the BC Ski Team for two years before she transferred over to rowing.
