Kimberley Nordic Ski Club leads the pack in Teck Kootenay Cup contest

The Kimberley Nordic Ski Club has grabbed the lead from the other cross country ski clubs in the region following the fourth race in the series.  Kimberley (383 points) has a respectable edge over the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club of Invermere (349), the Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club of Rossland (228) and the Fernie Nordic Ski Club (195), but there are still four races to go and any of the four leading clubs could end up the overall champion. The next Teck Kootenay Cup weekend is scheduled for February 8-9th in Kimberley.  You can follow the results at:  https://zone4.ca/

On other fronts:

In the Northern region the Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers (433 points) has a comfortable lead over the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club with 292 points.  With two more races to go, the competition for the title could be a good one.  The next Teck Northern Cup race will be held in Smithers on February 16th.

At the coast the first Teck Coast Cup was cancelled due to lack of snow.  The Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (Vancouver) dominated the second race, accumulating 271 points compared to 57 points for their closest challenger, the Sea to Sky Nordic Ski Club (Squamish).  These are early results, however, as there are four more races coming up in February.  The next Teck Coast Cup weekend is February 8-9th at Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley.

In the Okanagan the first and only Teck Okanagan Cup race this season will be held at Sun Peaks in March.
