The media are invited to Nickel Plate Nordic Center’s unveiling of the new dual-language English and nsyilxcn ski trail signs, which will be held on Monday, November 26th, 2018 at Nickel Plate Nordic Center.
The collaborative project between the Sylix/Okanagan Nation, Spirit North and the Nickel Plate Nordic Centre helped translate 30 ski trail names that are now in English and nsyilxcn (the Okanagan language).
Nickel Plate Nordic Center plays host to Spirit North community programming where Indigenous youth from the Syilx/Okanagan Nation enjoy ski lessons throughout the winter months to help them stay active and healthy through sport.
The event will start at 12:00 noon with an announcement, followed by an opportunity for the media to take photos and conduct interviews while the students and community members partake in cross-country ski activities.
Spirit North is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of Indigenous children and youth through the transformative power of sport and play.
