'Return to Sport' Guidelines: Province of BC »

CCBC Member Clubs

Below is a brief update on the process underway to help ensure a safe return to sport in our province.

  1. The BC Gov't has tasked viaSport with creating ‘Return to Sport’ guidelines on behalf of the sport sector.
  2. ViaSport completed its consultations with Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) on Friday May 15.
  3. The resulting guidelines developed by viaSport will be reviewed by public health officials and WorkSafe BC, and then released back to viaSport.  This step may take two to three weeks.
  4. Once the generic sport sector guidelines have been approved, PSOs will be able to develop sport-specific ‘Return to Sport’ plans. These sport-specific plans then need to be approved by the Board of Directors (BODs) of the respective PSOs.
  5. The BOD of each club may also be required to approve their club-specific ‘Return to Sport’ plan.  That step is still unclear, but we advise clubs to be on the look-out so that if this is required it doesn’t further slow down the club’s return to sport activities.
  6. PSOs and clubs may not organize/coach group training until authorized to do so.
