Third Teck Coast Cup Hosted by Spud Valley Nordics »

On Sunday, January 19th 2014, Spud Valley Nordics hosted the 3rd Coast Cup of the Teck Coast Cup Regional Series held at the Whistler Olympic Park. 134 athletes were racing, ranging in age from 5 to 65, from six clubs - Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club, Squamish Nordics, Strathcona Nordics, Spud Valley Nordics, Whistler Nordics and UBC ski team. They took part in team sprints, where each team of two did three legs alternately; sprint distances ranged from 100 meters for the Atoms and Peewees, to 1000 metres for Open Men & Open Women.

They raced in warm and sunny weather, some racers had only race bibs on their upper body! The race results can be found on the Spud Valley Nordics Website: www.spudvalleynordics.com

There were 40+ volunteers coming from clubs in the Sea to Sky Corridor. A race such as this would not have been possible without the efforts and expertise of these volunteers. All volunteers left with a bag of the well known Pemberton spuds.

The title sponsor for this Coast Cup Team Sprints event was Teck Resources Ltd. They provided medals and ribbons for all categories from Atoms to Juveniles.

Muscle Mlk provided their energy drink to all athletes and spectators.
